Mind mapping has been around for very long time, and it's simple procedure that many people use without realizing it. Most people take notes in linear form, either down the page or across the page. The big difference in mind mapping is that spherical in nature. You'll start out at the center of the page, and work your way outwards in circles.

In other words, if you were to take your typical day, the day might start with the date in the center. Then in the immediately surrounding circles would be the most important projects of the day, meaning meetings, perhaps picking up the children, getting to work, or anything else that is concrete. From there, perhaps after the meeting you might run errands because your location is good, or perhaps after picking up the children you're going to go visit a friend. The extreme outer circle might mean those types of things you would like to get done for the day, but don't have to. In this way you can organize your home life, and the same theory can be applied anywhere else.

There are plenty of mind map tools available on the Internet and their are plenty of research articles available as well. You'll find mind map templates where you can start learning exactly what mind mapping is and how it can make your life easier. Then perhaps you'd like to graduate to mind mapping software, so that you can include the software not only in your home life, but perhaps in your business life as well. It's great for project organization, you'll start out with a project team, then you can either enter those involved in the project, and their specific jobs. It's a great way to know who does what in a very short amount of time.

In typical linear format, you may have to go through pages before you can find the answer to one of your questions about a mind map project. It's all mind mapping, whether using linear or spherical format, it just so happens that the spherical format can all fit easily on one page and offer you the answers quickly and easily. If it is an extremely large project, you can have singular mind maps coming up on other pages. But as easy as it is to do with one two three, looking through these circles and finding your answers is even quicker.
